Work With Me

A story about two girls who used to be best friends lived rent-free in my head for years before I wrote more than just snippets of it. Between laundry, dishes, school runs, juggling my freelance writing and editing work, and all the other million things that filled my days, my creative writing pursuits fell by the wayside… time and time again.

But I’ve wanted to be an author for as long as I could remember, and after some “wake-up” calls, I realized that life is short, tomorrow is never promised, and I needed to find a way to move toward my goals, even if it meant rethinking how I approached my creative writing.

Gone were the days of me sitting immersed in my imagined worlds for hours on end. Instead, I found ways to carve out small pieces of time to make steady progress. I am now “leaning into” my creative writing dreams, even as I juggle my freelance writing and editing work, and I’ve made it my mission to help others pursue their writing and creative projects, too.

Do you dream of writing and publishing, but don’t know how to make it work? Do you have an idea you want to write and share with the world? I’d love to help.

Testimonials

“Your notes are excellent, thank you. I completely agree about the backstory chunk being more digestible a little later in, and I like your small sentence reworks, too.  Those were just the notes I needed, and I so appreciate you taking the time to read and give me those.” –  JS Furlong,  Barnes & Noble Bestselling author of Hidden City

“You’re really good at giving constructive feedback! You did such a nice balance of finding the issues/trouble spots but also offering positive notes as well. It’s so nice to see when things are working as well as what things are not. I had one beta reader who gave me some good feedback, but provided it in such a harsh manner that it was hard to digest at times. I never felt like that with your comments. Whenever I found notes about things you were questioning or suggestions, it never felt like it was coming from a mean or a negative space. I feel very lucky to have found you!” – Molly Heines, author

“Your comments on my short story were wonderfully encouraging! But more than that, you MADE YOUR CASE so clearly about suggestions for changes that… even though I’d gone into final draft edits with minimal time (as I often do) saying ‘I’m going to change exactly 1 or 2 things,’ I was persuaded on a bunch of things you gave advice for!” – Vikki Williams, author

“Our office has been relying on Liz as a professional writer for a few years now, and we’ve been thrilled with her work. She’s quick to not only complete her work, but to understand the unique requirements and technical limitations of writing for immigration cases. I am generally quite picky about how my clients’ stories are presented, and reviewing the projects that Liz completes has been a breath of fresh air. Our clients’ stories come to light more vividly – and efficiently – since we began working with Liz.” – Renae Yoo, ghostwriting client

Multi-genre author. 📚BECOMING CHARLOTTE CORDAY, a YA historical fantasy coming spring 2027 from Apprentice House Press

Ohhh my goodness, my editor totally made my MONTH Ohhh my goodness, my editor totally made my MONTH when she shared why she wants to publish my Young Adult Historical Fantasy about Charlotte Corday. Pinch me! “I was immediately pulled into the magic and fantasy elements of the story. I really loved how you connected real history to the plot without it ever feeling like I was reading something overly educational or dense. I’m honestly not much of a history person, but your writing made me curious enough to want to look into some of the historical elements more after I finished reading. I also grew up loving fantasy and magic-focused stories like Harry Potter and Percy Jackson & the Olympians, so that part really resonated with me.”#AuthorsOfInstagram #HistoricalFantasy #WritingCommunity #TimeTravel @apprenticehousepress

Someone told me they thought journaling was a wast Someone told me they thought journaling was a waste of time… that they weren’t into “navel gazing.” That it didn’t seem “productive.”But, take it from me, someone who has kept a journal for more than 3 decades. Journaling doesn’t necessarily mean keeping a diary… and I’m sorry, but who decided EVERYTHING needs to be productive all the time?!There can be a lot of beauty in slowing down.I don’t know about you, but I’m ready for a slower pace of life. A kinder life. A more gentle life.Journaling is a safe space, one that we can reflect, think, and grow. For me, it’s also become a place not for story endings, but beginnings. What story do you dream of telling? Do you use a journal to start working on your story? Or what does your creative process look like?#Journaling #AmWriting #MomLife #TheStoriesWeTellOurselves

When I learned that “Shift” was being marketed When I learned that “Shift” was being marketed to fans of Hunger Games, I knew I had to read it. While the book’s structure was different than what I’m used to from YA books (with some exposition up front), the concept and storytelling had me hooked:Shapeshifters stereotyped as criminalsPolitical intrigue and shady government dealingsThe main character Sybil trying to figure out who she is in a world that just didn’t seem to accept her “kind”Challenging family dynamics… especially with her brother ArtNot knowing who to trust or believeBonus: Lee’s world-building was super impressive, blending real-world elements like the beautiful Appalachian Mountains and DC with a land divided over magic and what should be done about the Shifters.I look forward to reading the sequel! Thanks for sharing an advanced copy with me @jpleeauthor! #BookReview #YAReads #AdvanceReview #FantasyBook
