Baby boy’s due date was January 16. He’s officially late… so much for my instinct of thinking he’d be early! But, from what I’ve read, this is pretty normal. About 50% of all babies are born AFTER their due date. Little Miss was a late one too; I developed pre-eclampsia late in my pregnancy, and my blood pressure skyrocketed when I hit 41 weeks. I was induced, and she appeared rather … [Read more...]
A Letter to my Daughter Before She Becomes a Big Sister
Dear Little Miss,Today at lunch, in between slurps of soup, you looked at me and said, “what you doing, mama?” I was looking at you, probably more intently than usual, and thinking about how much has changed in nearly the past three years (ever since you’ve been born)… and how things are about to change so much again. She gets angrier and … [Read more...]
Lessons in Resilience and Never Giving Up
I love the age Little Miss is at right now -- almost two years old. (Then again, I feel like I say that at every new “age.”) The connections she’s making, the words she’s learning, her bubbling personality. Everything! Of course though, with growing up and learning so much, she’s also discovering the world doesn’t revolve around her every want. With that new realization, I’ve already seen the … [Read more...]
