Letter to My Kids As We Start The School Year at Home

September 21, 2020 by Liz SanFilippo Hall

To my darling kids - I know this isn't what we thought this was school year going to look like. I remember, back in January, talking about how the next school year was going to be different. We talked about how you, little miss, were going to finally be in full-day school. We talked about how you, buster, were going to school five mornings every week. Then, the world got turned upside … [Read more...]

How to Make a Simple Mud Garden (and Why My Kids Love It)

June 14, 2020 by Liz SanFilippo Hall

My kids love the mud. They love jumping in it. They love squishing their hands in it. Simply put, they love getting dirty (once upon a time my oldest hated it, but that's another story). So when we set out to make a new raised garden bed, they wanted to get involved. The only problem? We didn't want them stomping down any new plants. That's one of the reasons we decided to make them their … [Read more...]

5 Board Games Preschoolers Love

May 5, 2020 by Liz SanFilippo Hall

board games

I love that he loves them. Not only are they a way for me to have quality time with him, but board games also teach him a ton too. (Not that he realizes that!) Many games for preschoolers are great for … [Read more...]

10 Nature Art Ideas Kids Love

April 19, 2020 by Liz SanFilippo Hall

Nature art

Sometimes my kids want more than paint and paper when it's art time. When that's the case, we tend to do nature art and crafts. That's because we find so much inspiration in the outdoors. Plus, it challenges them to think of art and painting in a different way. Last but certainly not least, we get to explore and learn more about nature in the process. (Affiliate links included). First Step to … [Read more...]

Little Miss’s Birthday Reminded Me to Focus on What We Can Do Instead of What We Can’t

April 4, 2020 by Liz SanFilippo Hall

focus on what you can do

I dreaded telling little miss that we had to cancel her birthday plans, including her party. A week ago, we sat together on her bed as I reminded her about why we were staying home, and I broke the news that we had delay her party. She teared up, briefly upset, but then she looked at me and asked, "I still get a birthday, right?" "Of course!" I told her. "You get to spend the day of your real … [Read more...]
