7 Valentine’s Day Gift Ideas for the Busy Moms in Your Life

February 1, 2018 by Liz SanFilippo Hall

I’ll admit it. I like Valentine’s Day. I love that it’s a day dedicated to letting loved ones know that we care about them, and why. I’ll also be the first to admit that one of the top things I’d want as a gift would be to sleep in. But, in addition to sleeping in, what would the busy mom in your life value this year?  If you’re still looking for a few Valentine’s Day gift ideas, here are a few: from the practical to the pampering.

Affiliate links included.

1. Letter.. Or a Sticky Note!

As I mentioned above, I love that this holiday is about telling others how we feel about them. It doesn’t need to be a long letter either. Heck, even a few sticky notes around your home can be a great way to tell your loved one just how much they mean to you, and why.

2. A Clean House

This one won’t cost you a thing except your time… unless you don’t want to do it yourself! But giving the gift of a clean house is something just about anyone will appreciate.

3. Kitchen Gadgets

I might not be the best of cooks, and my husband might do most of the cooking, but I’m all about having gadgets in the kitchen that will make whipping up a dish for the kids and the family easier and more efficient … like an Instant Pot is still on my wish list. Hint hint, hun, if you’re reading this! 😉

4. Anything with caffeine

I start every morning with a cup of coffee, Nespresso, or chai tea, and I know I’m not the only one. Pick out a fun new flavor to keep your busy mama or wife caffeinated and moving throughout the day.

5. Me time

One of the hardest things for us busy mamas to ask for on Valentine’s Day is time for ourselves. But me time is soooo necessary to recharge our batteries and be the best mom — and version of ourselves — that we can be. So give the gift of time, and maybe a gift card to a movie, restaurant, or Starbucks, before nudging us out the door.

6. A spa experience

One of the best kinds of “me time”? Time at the spa of course! Book a massage or mani/pedi appointment, or grab a gift certificate for us to use on ourselves. I promise we’ll return home in a wonderful mood, too!

7. Pampering at home

The pampering doesn’t need to end with the spa. One of my favorite treats for myself is my skincare. It only takes a few minutes, and it leaves me, and my skin, feeling so refreshed. Add in some makeup too, and these are the gifts that keep on giving.

Oh, and not that it needs to be said, but we’d love some chocolate and flowers, too.

Busy mamas, what would you like for Valentine’s Day?

Multi-genre author. 📚BECOMING CHARLOTTE CORDAY, a YA historical fantasy coming spring 2027 from Apprentice House Press

Ohhh my goodness, my editor totally made my MONTH Ohhh my goodness, my editor totally made my MONTH when she shared why she wants to publish my Young Adult Historical Fantasy about Charlotte Corday. Pinch me! “I was immediately pulled into the magic and fantasy elements of the story. I really loved how you connected real history to the plot without it ever feeling like I was reading something overly educational or dense. I’m honestly not much of a history person, but your writing made me curious enough to want to look into some of the historical elements more after I finished reading. I also grew up loving fantasy and magic-focused stories like Harry Potter and Percy Jackson & the Olympians, so that part really resonated with me.”#AuthorsOfInstagram #HistoricalFantasy #WritingCommunity #TimeTravel @apprenticehousepress

Someone told me they thought journaling was a wast Someone told me they thought journaling was a waste of time… that they weren’t into “navel gazing.” That it didn’t seem “productive.”But, take it from me, someone who has kept a journal for more than 3 decades. Journaling doesn’t necessarily mean keeping a diary… and I’m sorry, but who decided EVERYTHING needs to be productive all the time?!There can be a lot of beauty in slowing down.I don’t know about you, but I’m ready for a slower pace of life. A kinder life. A more gentle life.Journaling is a safe space, one that we can reflect, think, and grow. For me, it’s also become a place not for story endings, but beginnings. What story do you dream of telling? When I learned that “Shift” was being marketed When I learned that “Shift” was being marketed to fans of Hunger Games, I knew I had to read it. While the book’s structure was different than what I’m used to from YA books (with some exposition up front), the concept and storytelling had me hooked:Shapeshifters stereotyped as criminalsPolitical intrigue and shady government dealingsThe main character Sybil trying to figure out who she is in a world that just didn’t seem to accept her “kind”Challenging family dynamics… especially with her brother ArtNot knowing who to trust or believeBonus: Lee’s world-building was super impressive, blending real-world elements like the beautiful Appalachian Mountains and DC with a land divided over magic and what should be done about the Shifters.I look forward to reading the sequel! Thanks for sharing an advanced copy with me @jpleeauthor! #BookReview #YAReads #AdvanceReview #FantasyBook
