7 Valentine’s Day Gift Ideas for the Busy Moms in Your Life

February 1, 2018 by Liz SanFilippo Hall

I’ll admit it. I like Valentine’s Day. I love that it’s a day dedicated to letting loved ones know that we care about them, and why. I’ll also be the first to admit that one of the top things I’d want as a gift would be to sleep in. But, in addition to sleeping in, what would the busy mom in your life value this year?  If you’re still looking for a few Valentine’s Day gift ideas, here are a few: from the practical to the pampering.

Affiliate links included.

1. Letter.. Or a Sticky Note!

As I mentioned above, I love that this holiday is about telling others how we feel about them. It doesn’t need to be a long letter either. Heck, even a few sticky notes around your home can be a great way to tell your loved one just how much they mean to you, and why.

2. A Clean House

This one won’t cost you a thing except your time… unless you don’t want to do it yourself! But giving the gift of a clean house is something just about anyone will appreciate.

3. Kitchen Gadgets

I might not be the best of cooks, and my husband might do most of the cooking, but I’m all about having gadgets in the kitchen that will make whipping up a dish for the kids and the family easier and more efficient … like an Instant Pot is still on my wish list. Hint hint, hun, if you’re reading this! 😉

4. Anything with caffeine

I start every morning with a cup of coffee, Nespresso, or chai tea, and I know I’m not the only one. Pick out a fun new flavor to keep your busy mama or wife caffeinated and moving throughout the day.

5. Me time

One of the hardest things for us busy mamas to ask for on Valentine’s Day is time for ourselves. But me time is soooo necessary to recharge our batteries and be the best mom — and version of ourselves — that we can be. So give the gift of time, and maybe a gift card to a movie, restaurant, or Starbucks, before nudging us out the door.

6. A spa experience

One of the best kinds of “me time”? Time at the spa of course! Book a massage or mani/pedi appointment, or grab a gift certificate for us to use on ourselves. I promise we’ll return home in a wonderful mood, too!

7. Pampering at home

The pampering doesn’t need to end with the spa. One of my favorite treats for myself is my skincare. It only takes a few minutes, and it leaves me, and my skin, feeling so refreshed. Add in some makeup too, and these are the gifts that keep on giving.

Oh, and not that it needs to be said, but we’d love some chocolate and flowers, too.

Busy mamas, what would you like for Valentine’s Day?

When I was a young mom, my dreams of writing felt When I was a young mom, my dreams of writing felt so out of reach. I was being pulled in a million different directions, and I never thought I’d make the progress I needed to. But then I realized that I just needed to reassess my process (and give myself some grace). Gone were the days of immersing myself in my imagination for hours on end… but 5-10 minute writing sessions? That I could do. This guided journal was born out of that process. Grab this 28-day guided journal through the link in my bio 🥰#MomLife #WritingProcess #WritingDreams #GuidedJournal

I actually started in on this book last fall, so I’m about halfway into my “draft zero” already… 40,000ish words that includes a handful of chapters and a whole lot of outlining and world building. I’m having fun figuring out how this story pans out, and that’s basically all I can say without spoiling anything 😜#AmEditing #AmWriting #MomLife #DraftZero

Even if you have zero intention to write or sing a Even if you have zero intention to write or sing a song, but you love writing, you need to check out this book. Wilco’s Jeff Tweedy is entertaining and insightful, and his approach to creativity feels like my own (did I really just write that?! I’m not, I swear, comparing myself to his incredible songwriting abilities). But his words struck a chord with me (pun intended): “Take the time to play with your words. Allow yourself the joy of getting to know them without being precious about directing everything they are trying to say.”But he goes beyond inspiration and encouragement too, and offers some super fun writing exercises… l you’ll just have to read to find them out. 🥳Now please excuse me while I go check out his other book. #AmWriting #BookRec #Creativity #Wilco
